ALGOMA – Down 4-2 after five innings of play at Perry Park in Algoma on June 29, the ‘Guins lit up the scoreboard with a 13-1 run in the seventh and eighth innings to invoke the 10-run rule on the Kewaunee Chiefs with a 15-5 victory.

The Chiefs were in control of the game early, plating three runs in the first frame to put pressure on the ‘Guins, who didn’t get on the board until the third inning, when they got one across to make it 4-1.

Algoma turned the game around in the seventh inning, scoring four runs to take a 6-4 advantage, followed by a nine-run outburst in the eighth to put it away.

Jared Gosse finished the day four-for-five for the ‘Guins with a home run and eight RBIs while teammate Will Jandrin was two-for-four with a double and two RBIs.

Algoma second baseman Will Jandrin tries to corral the ball as Nathan Havlovitz reaches safely in the early innings of Algoma’s 15-5 victory last Thursday.

Andrew Richard led the Chiefs’ offense with a one-for-three effort at the plate that included a double and a pair of RBIs.

Wyatt Kruse was two-for-four with an RBI and a double.
