Spartans sixth in state football poll

Kewaunee rolls over Mishicot, Algoma falls at Oneida

Luxemburg-Casco is feeling the love this week, moving up four spots to sixth in the Div. 3 football coach’s poll.
The Spartans, 5-0 after a 44-6 thrashing of Sheboygan Falls last week, look to remain unbeaten Saturday at Shawano in a North Eastern Conference game.
Meanwhile, Kewaunee is unbeaten in the Packerland and 4-1 overall after a 58-30 win at Mishicot. The Storm has homecoming this weekend against winless Sturgeon Bay.
Algoma dropped out of the top 10 8-player state rankings after losing at Oneida to NEW/Oneida/Providence, 24-12. The Wolves, who handily dispatched United in a non-league game to start the season, are now 3-2 overall. They hosted Sevastopol (4-1) for Parent’s Night Friday. The Pioneers’ senior quarterback, Logan Schuh, is leading state 8-player football in total yards with more than 1,200 — 671 yards throwing (10 touchdowns) and 560 rushing (nine TDs).
Kewaunee 58, Mishicot 30

Brett Paulsen completed 19 of 24 passes for 294 yards for four touchdowns, with two interceptions. He also rushed for 89 yards and one TD on 10 carries, had two two-point conversions and an interception.
Waylon Delain rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries and had two catches for 51 yards. Diesel Bosdeck caught eight throws for 110 yards and two TDs, including a 44-yarder. Connor Kilgore caught four passes for 57 yards, and Trevor Gauthier two for 48. Alec Carlson and Dane Harrel each caught one pass, both for TDs of 10 and six yards, respectively. Mason Kovacs had one catch for 12 yards.
Blake Bortolini had three pancake blocks and Benjamin VanGoethem two. Kaden Koss had seven-and-a-half tackles, Gauthier seven (six solo), Bortolini five-and-a-half (four solo) and Mitchell Boeder four-and-a-half. Kilgore had an interception and Garrett LeFevre recovered a fumble. Delain and Carlson also had two-point conversions, and Blake Temme kicked two extra points.
L-C 44, Sheboygan Falls 6
Eli Derenne completed six of eight passes for 87 yards and four touchdowns, three of them to Tatem Klaubauf, as the Spartans rolled. Klaubauf caught four balls for 58 yards and Brady Kinnard two for 29 with a TD.
Brayden Loritz and Cam Dorner combined for 154 yards on 18 carries, with six other rushers gaining a combined 97 in 17 tries.
NEW/Oneida 24, Algoma 12
The Wolves lost a lineman to injury early, and quarterback Lane Cochart wasn’t at full strength. He was just two-of-five passing for 18 yards, but did gain 88 yards rushing on 13 attempts. Joey Cabino had 94 yards on 14 carries. Parker Lischka caught two passes and ran for 19 yards on four carries.
Cabino led in tackles with nine. Cayden Neuzil had seven-and-a-half, Cochart seven, David Tebon six, Kaden Bielawski five-and-a-half and Pete Ritchie Jr. five.
