Posted

ALGOMA – Yardstick Books will host Manitowoc’s James and Jill Iverson, author/illustrators of the travel journal, Exploring America’s Great Loop on Oct. 19 at 4 p.m.

“The Great Loop” is a North American boating adventure, using a combination of rivers, canals, lakes and open ocean passages to circumnavigate the eastern third of the United States and part of Canada.

Exploring America’s Great Loop follows Iversons on a year-long journey of discovery as they experience the challenges and rewards of the Loop, illustrated with pages from Jill’s sketch journal,.

The Iversons’ adventure spanned over 6,000 miles, winding through rivers, lakes, canals and coastal waterways.

They faced numerous challenges, from navigating through rough waters to encountering diverse wildlife and experiencing the vibrant cultures of countless towns and cities along the way.

Each moment was recorded in Jill’s sketches and James’ detailed notes, capturing the essence of their journey.

James, who had grown up with a persistent dream to fulfill his interests in nautical adventures, has a passion for navigation and maritime history.

Jill spent her summers with family operating a remote fish camp in Canada where she would climb rocks, swim and play, which has shaped her creativity as a visual artist today.

Yardstick Books is located at 317 Steele Street, Algoma.
