‘Havoc at the Hall’ seems a great success

Enjoy the warm weather while you can; it will change.

The weather the last few days has been unseasonably warm and I’m definitely not complaining, because it is November and we do live in Wisconsin. It’s bound to change, but take advantage of the unseasonably warm temps while they exist. It’s supposed to be a cold, snowy winter, so the later it gets started, the better.

For my part, it could snow just before Christmas and warm us shortly after, but we know that isn’t going to happen. But it’s fun to daydream.

From everything I’ve heard, the “Havoc at the Hall” Halloween event down at Lakehaven Hall in Kewaunee was a rousing success. Tom Skubal took a lot of photos and posted them on Facebook. It appeared that most people who went through the Haunted House enjoyed the experience.

Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers who helped in any way. Lakehaven is a great addition to the community and the perfect place for lots of different events, including reunions, weddings, anniversaries, and so on.

Now, on to the Green Bay Packers, who blew a win at Atlanta last Sunday. The defense just couldn’t stop Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and company when it had to.

There were some bright spots, though. The offense did look more connected, even though there were a lot of new faces. Aaron Rodgers seemed to be more in sync with his receivers and the young guys in for injured veterans on offense did an admirable job and surely gained valuable experience.

This week they are back at Lambeau Field against the Indianapolis Colts. I think they will return to their winning ways. At least they should if the offense can continue to improve. We fans will hope for the best.

• I saw a cute story on Facebook recently. It goes like this:

A teacher asked the children in her Sunday school class, “If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and gave all my money to the church, would I get into heaven?”

“No!” the children all answered.

“If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the yard, and kept everything neat and tidy, would I get into heaven?”Again, the answer was “No!”

“Well,” she continued, “then how can I get to heaven?”

In the back of the room, a 5-year-old boy shouted out, “You gotta be dead!”

And then there is this one: Johnny had been misbehaving and was sent to his room. After a while he emerged and informed his mother that he had thought it over and then said a prayer.

“Fine”, said the pleased mother. “If you ask God to help you not misbehave, He will help you.”

“Oh, I didn’t ask Him to help me not misbehave,” said Johnny. “I asked Him to help you put up with me.”

Have a great week, everyone!
