Chiefs in first in Shoreland League

The Kewaunee Chiefs gave Denmark its first loss of the young season last Tuesday, beating the Devilbears 5-4.

Brett Paulsen struck out eight in three innings and had two hits, including a double, for Kewaunee. Joe Anderson also had a pair of hits.

The Chiefs added another win Friday, 4-3 over Manitowoc, to move to 3-0 on the season. Paulsen and Reese Berg each had two hits, and Joe Anderson struck out 11 in five innings.
Casco was 2-1 after wins over Ashwaubenon (7-0 June 9) and Algoma (8-2 June 19), and a 5-0 loss to Denmark June 15.

Tanner Alsteen had four hits and a shutout pitching performance in the win over the Lookouts. Colin Lacey had three hits in that one, and a pair in the loss to Denmark.

Casco’s Jason Arendt was inducted into the Shoreland Hall of Fame last Friday prior to the A’s win over the Penguins. His son, Easton, had three hits, including a double, in the game. Owen Deprez had a three-run home run and struck out 15. Peyton Daniels also homered, with four RBI. Jaden Diller and Brady Kita each had a pair of hits for the ‘Guins.

Algoma fell to 0-4 Tuesday, dropping an 8-7 decision in 11 innings to the Manitowoc White Caps. Charlie Prokash, Matt Malvitz and Chris Lodl all had two hits for the Penguins.
On Wednesday, Casco was at Two Rivers and Kewaunee at Ashwaubenon (after our deadline). Algoma was at Denmark Thursday before hosting Two Rivers Tuesday. The Chiefs host Two Rivers next Wednesday.

Fresh off the high school season, Waylon Delain got two hits and earned the ‘W’ from the mound in Kewaunee’s 7-1 win over Algoma June 12. Brady Pribek had three hits and Cal Ihlenfeldt a pair.

Algoma dropped a 12-5 decision to Denmark June 11. Tyler Neinas had four hits, Diller three and Cal DeMeuse two.
