Kewaunee’s Miller D-3 State Champion

LA CROSSE – Kewaunee senior Hannah Miller broke her own school record for the second straight meet, winning the girls Div. 3 800 meter run in 2:11.62 at last weekend’s WIAA State Track & Field Championships at UW-LaCrosse.

Miller added a fifth-place finish in the 1600 with a season’s best 5:03.42, and anchored the 8th place 4x400 relay team (4:06.38, about a second off their sectional best). Other members were Noelie El Kout, Natalie Miller and Kaylyn Martin.

Natalie Miller added an 11th place in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet, six inches. Chyanne Robinson finished 14th in the discus with a throw of 112 feet, five inches.

Also in D-3, Algoma junior Estella Marrerro tied for 8th place in the pole vault, tying her best of 10 feet. On the boys’ side, fellow junior Cooper Fay set a new personal record at 13 feet, good for 11th place. Both are within inches of the school record, with one year to go.

In Div. 2, Luxemburg-Casco junior Claire DuChateau finished sixth in the 3200 in a personal best 11:08.19, more than 10 seconds better than her former PB in sectionals and less than 2-1/2 seconds off the school record (Jacie Legois, 2016 state). She added an 11th place finish in the 1600, finishing in 5:12.39.

On the boys’ side, senior Mason Trimberger finished 5th in the 300 hurdles in 39.33, the second fastest in school history (Sam Larson, 38.63, 2017). He finished 14th in the 110 hurdles (15.49), a half-second behind his sectional time, which was also second in school history behind Larson.

The Spartans’ 4x400 relay team of Brady Kinnard, Levi Kinnard, Jonathan Salentine and Trimberger finished 9th in 3:23.97, the third fastest time L-C time on record.
