Career Highlight: Beating the second-seeded Iola-Scandinavia to make it to Regional Final in basketball my senior season.
At what age did you start playing your sport?
I started playing soccer when I was three years old, and I started playing basketball when I was eight years old.
Who introduced you to the sport?
My parents put me in soccer when I was really young and I just fell in love with it ever since then.
Has this always been your favorite sport?
How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?
It has gotten much easier because during my junior and senior year I worked during school so I had less classes.
What is your favorite part about your sport?
What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?
What would you say is your biggest asset on the field/court?
My biggest asset playing soccer is knowing the game. I have played for many years so I am able to help others get better.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
In the Regional Semi-Final game against Iola-Scandinavia for basketball I took a charge and the next possession down the court I hit a pull up 3.
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
It feels really good to see the person I have become because I have really matured since freshman year. As an athlete I feel like I got better at my sports every year.
Do you have any pre-match/game rituals/routines/superstitions?
I would eat a pretty big meal 3-4 hours before every game.
Do you take any extra steps to prepare for a big match/game/meet, outside of regular training?
What has been your favorite experience with being a senior this year?
I liked that I was a leader and I hoped other kids in sports would see me as a leader. It is really exciting being a senior with graduation coming up soon.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?
Shout out to Coach Schneider, Tater, Robertson and Savoie for basketball. Thank you to coach Dakota Berg and Brian Berg and my club soccer coaches Matt Broomhall and Jesse Mejia.
Any hobbies outside of sports?
I really like to golf.
Favorite song?
Either “Can’t Turn You Down” by Jon Pardi, or “Millionaire” by Chris Stapleton.
Sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade or water?
Future Plans? (college/major, career, etc.)
I am going to work at Van’s Lumber as a carpenter.
